'There are no Rights and Wrongs. Only Power' - Sarkar

If you liked this movie , you'll definitely like :Satya , The godfather , Scarface ,Ab tak chappan , and of course Sarkar Raaj ,etc.
Plot - Subhash Nagre (Amitabh Bachchan), who is known by his followers as Sarkar, lives in Mumbai. The opening scenes show a rape victim's father (Veerendra Saxena) approaching Sarkar for justice (which the corrupt law and order system has failed to deliver) which Sarkar promptly establishes by having the rapist beaten up by his henchmen. His son, Vishnu (Kay Kay Menon), plays a foul-mouthed producer who is more interested in the film actress Sapna (Nisha Kothari) than his wife Amrita (Rukhsar). Sarkar's other, more upright son, Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan), returns from the United States with his love Pooja (Katrina Kaif) after completing his education there. Pooja's doubts about Sarkar's image cause Shankar, who firmly believes in his father's righteousness, to break up with her later in the movie.

One day, a Dubai-based don, Rasheed (Zakir Hussain) tries to strike a deal with Sarkar; he promptly refuses on moral grounds and also forbids him from doing it himself. Rasheed tries to eliminate Sarkar's supremacy with the help of Silver Mani (Srinivasa Rao Kota), Sarkar's former associate and Swami Virendra (Jeeva). Meanwhile, they trap Sarkar by assassinating a righteous, upright, Ahimsa political leader and an outspoken critic of Sarkar, Motilal Khurana (Anupam Kher). Everyone, including Vishnu believe that Sarkar is guilty but Shankar has deep faith in his father. Sarkar gets arrested. Shankar now takes over the position of Sarkar temporarily. On learning of a plot to murder his father in prison, he approaches the police commissioner (Anant Jog) who mocks him and his father besides not providing protection. By the time he reaches the prison and appropriate action is taken, the attempt on Sarkar's life is already made. Sarkar is later acquitted. He remains bedridden as Shankar takes on Sarkar's enemies. Meanwhile, Silver Mani, Swami and Rasheed try to convince Vishnu to murder Sarkar. Vishnu was previously thrown out of Sarkar's house because he had murdered the actor who was having an affair with Sapna. Vishnu returns home pretending to have repented. When he approaches Sarkar in the dark of the night with the intent of murdering him, Shankar foils his plan and later kills him (establishing justice by the way of his father). Shankar eliminates Rasheed and Silver Mani. He also succeeds in making Swami his puppet. Shankar has also realized that Chief Minister Madan Rathore (Deepak Shirke) also has a part in the attempt to end Sarkar and his rule. This results in legal action against the Chief Minister. The closing scenes show people approaching Shankar for justice and his father apparently retired. ( Wikipedia )

Plot -

Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) is a time-obsessed FedEx systems analyst. He is in a relationship with Kelly Frears (Helen Hunt). Both want to get married, but Chuck's busy schedule is always an obstacle. At home in Memphis, Tennessee for Christmas after returning from a trip to Moscow, Russia, Chuck is called away for work while at a holiday gathering with relatives. As he is about to get on the plane, he gives Kelly a box containing an engagement ring and tells her not to open it until New Year's Eve. Kelly gives Chuck a pocket watch containing a picture of herself. While flying through a violent thunderstorm somewhere over the southern Pacific Ocean, the FedEx jet crashes into the ocean in flames. Saved by an inflatable life-raft, Chuck floats helplessly on the ocean until he is washed up on a deserted island, the lone survivor.

Within a few days, Chuck ascertains that the island is uninhabited and sets out to do what he can to survive. When the body of one of the flight crew washes up on the island, along with several FedEx packages, Chuck buries the pilot and neatly piles away all of the washed up packages. He eventually opens all of the packages (with the single exception of a package adorned with a pair of wings) and tries to find a practical use for whatever is inside. One contains a Wilson volleyball. After receiving a deep wound on his hand, Chuck angrily grabs and throws the volleyball, leaving a bloody hand print on it. Naming the ball "Wilson" after the manufacturer (as well as rubbing out a face on it), he starts to develop a deep-friendship-like dependency to help him cope with the loneliness. Four years later, a dramatically thinner, bearded Chuck is seen expertly tossing a spear into the water, killing a fish. One morning, a large chunk of plastic from a portable toilet washes up on the island. Upon seeing how the wind blew the plastic down after standing it up in the sand, Chuck decides to build a raft, using the plastic as a sail, so that he can escape from the island. Setting out to sea with Wilson, he becomes visibly emotional for managing to leave the island from overcoming the waves which had denied him on previous occasions. Spending days drifting out into the open sea, Wilson falls into the water as Chuck is sleeping and he is unable to save him. All alone on the raft, he is rescued by a passing New Zealand cargo ship.

On returning home, Chuck must come to terms with the fact that everyone he was close to has given him up for dead long ago and moved on with their lives. Kelly has married and had a child with another man, Dr. Jerry Lovett (Chris Noth). Chuck reunites with Kelly and they profess their love for each other, but they both know that Kelly has responsibilities to Jerry and her daughter and say goodbye to each other. He then sets out to deliver the one package he never opened on the island - the one with the angels' wings.

No one is home, so he leaves the package at the front door with an attached note. Stopping at a remote crossroads, a woman in a truck drives up and tries to help him explaining where all the roads from the intersection lead to. As she drives away, noticing the painted angel's wings on the back of her truck, Chuck is seen smiling in the direction of the truck. ( Wikipedia )

Omkara (2006) Review

Genre : Drama , Romance

Review Sky : 4 / 5

If you liked this movie , you'll definitely like : Sehar , etc.
Plot -
Omkara Shukla or Omi (Ajay Devgan) is a baahubali, a sort of political enforcer. He is the leader of a gang which carries out political crimes for the local politician Tiwari Bhaisaab (Naseeruddin Shah). Ishwar 'Langda' Tyagi (Saif Ali Khan) and Keshav 'Kesu Firangi' Upadhyay (Vivek Oberoi) are his closest lieutenants.

The movie starts with Langda Tyagi hijacking a baraat and sending Rajju (Deepak Dobriyal), the bridegroom to try and stop Omkara from abducting the bride, Dolly Mishra (Kareena Kapoor). Rajju fails and the wedding never takes place.

Dolly’s father Advocate Ragunath Mishra (Kamal Tiwari), mostly referred in the movie as “vakeel saab” (lawyer sir), is furious and confronts Omi. He puts a gun to Omi’s head and demands the return of his daughter. Bhaisaab intervenes and resolves the conflict by mentioning the current political conditions and prevents bloodshed. Still unconvinced, Vakeel saab grieves to Bhaisaab the next day. To bring a final solution to this issue, Dolly is made to appear in front of her father and clarify that she eloped with Omi rather than being abducted forcefully. She also tells the events of how she fell in love with Omkara. The father leaves feeling betrayed and ashamed.

After some crafty political arm-twisting, involving a MMS sex scandal, Omkara eliminates a powerful electoral rival. Bhaisaab is elected for Parliament and Omkara is promoted from “bahubali” to the candidate for the upcoming state elections. Omkara appoints Kesu over Langda as his successor once he enters politics himself. Langda, disappointed with Omkara's poor judgment and jealous of Kesu, his younger, less-experienced, superior; hatches a plot to revenge both his offenders. He first causes a violent brawl between Kesu and Rajju (Deepak Dobriyal), Dolly’s original suitor by taking advantage of Kesu's low threshold for alcohol. Such irresponsible behaviour of Kesu infuriates Omi, who now starts becoming unsure about his own decision.

On one hand, playing the role of a concerned friend Langda convinces Kesu to appeal to Dolly, Omi's lover and bride-to-be to mollify Omi. On the other he starts to disrepute Dolly by implicating Kesu's visits to ask Dolly for her help as meetings in an illicit love affair between the two. A kamarbandh, a piece of traditional jewellery worn around the waist, carelessly dropped by Dolly and stolen by Langda’s wife Indu (Konkona Sen Sharma), which eventually reaches Billo Chamanbahar (Bipasha Basu) as a gift from Kesu, plays an important part in the plot, as evidence of Dolly’s infidelity.

By the time of the climax, the night of their wedding, Omi is convinced that Dolly and Kesu have been having an affair behind his back. In utter rage, he smothers his new wife to death. Langda shoots Kesu with a silent approval from Omi. Hearing gunshots and in shock Indu enters the room where Omi is sitting next to Dolly’s corpse in remorse. Indu notices the kamarbandh and mentions stealing it, they both understand the fatal misunderstanding and Langda as its root cause.

In retribution, Indu slashes Langda's throat and Omi commits suicide. The movie closes with Omi lying dead of the floor and Dolly’s dead body swinging above his.

Plot - Roy (played by Abhishek Bachchan) is a professional conman (bluffmaster in Indian English), who is a master of his dubious "art." He is in love with the honest and true "Simmi" (played by Priyanka Chopra). When they are about to get engaged, Simmi finds out that Roy is a conman, and she breaks off the relationship. Time passes, and Roy misses Simmi greatly. He tries his best to get back with her, but all attempts go in vain. Then Roy meets "Aditya Srivastav" alias "Dittu" (played by Ritesh Deshmukh). Aditya is a conman too, though an incompetent one. They meet in an elevator where Dittu attempts to steal Roy's briefcase. Roy eventually becomes friends with Dittu and they become partners.

After a few days, it is revealed that Dittu's friend goes to jail because of the police. Aditya blames it on Roy, and Roy frustratedly agrees to do anything Aditya says. Aditya asks Roy to teach him how to be a conman. Roy agrees to teach Aditya the art of the con. This altruistic gesture opens up Roy's heart even further; he develops a true friendship for Aditya.

Then Roy is told that he has a brain tumour and will die soon. He decides to perform one last good deed. Aditya tells Roy that he wants to take revenge on his father's enemies. When Simmi finds out about the tumour, she goes back to Roy in order to spend time with him. She sees that he is a changed man, and love blossoms between the two once again. Roy manages to fool "Chandu"(Nana Patekar) the man Aditya wants revenge against.

Roy's doctor tells him that he can be treated by going to a clinic in Atlanta. Roy gathers up all his con money in order to go for is treatment. Just as all his money is collected, Roy finds out that Chandu has Simmi in custody. Roy sacrifices the money in order to save Simmi. She says that she loves him, and leaves him alone with Chandu. Chandu pushes Roy off the roof...

Then Roy lands on a soft mat below the building. The public come up to him and ask which movie is he shooting for. Roy is confused and says it isn't a movie. The public accuse Roy of thinking they are stupid and walk away. Roy retraces his steps and realises that all the places he has been, turned out to be fake. Then last of all, he goes to a house, and finds that everyone who he thought knew were conning him. They made a movie out of him. All is revealed that Aditya was getting revenge for his father, who Roy had conned. Roy changes his ways, and agrees not to be a conman. He gets back together with Simmi, who was in on the setup. Comedy Drama Film Movie

Movie / Film Plot Story line
: American-born Indian Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan) brings his ailing grandmother (Waheeda Rahman) back to her former home in Chandni Chowk, the walled city of Old Delhi. There he meets Bittu (Sonam Kapoor), the beautiful daughter of a neighbor, and becomes involved in Hindu and Muslim religious riots following attacks attributed to a phantom figure popularly dubbed the "Black Monkey" ( Wikipedia )

ReviewSky : The movie starts at New York where Roshan is with his parents and grandmother . His grandma doesnt have much time left , and her last wish is to go back to Delhi where she spent her entire life . So she and Roshan come to Delhi .

Now in Delhi , a serial killer is on the loose - a monkey man .( This actually had happened in Delhi - i.e. the rumors actually were circulating a couple of years back ) Their neighbours over there is Bittu who aspires to be a star . However , her Dad is really strict and wants her to get married but she's against this .

Roshan gets a taste of Delhi - the traffic , the Delhi ka Dil i.e. their hospitality , gets to know about religion , beliefs , traditions , lifestyles , the caste system and also about his parents past lives in India . He also starts liking Delhi . Now he also comes to know of Bittu's dreams and feels sorry for her .

Much of the movie revolves around Raam Leela i.e. Ramayana play . This is done very nicely . Also the Serail Killer / Monkey man is integrated well into the story . Also some parts are really funny .

One thing leads to another , and Roshan and Bittu fall in love , but her Dad has other plans for her . So this is where the love story aspect comes into play but it isn't boring and it its shown nicely - not the typical Bollywood fake love lame shit .
Just as Roshan gets to see the unity between the Hindus and the Muslims , he also gets to see the hatred between them . and just as he experiences Delhi's hospitality , he also feels its hostility .

SO, will Bittu become a star ?
Will Roshan run back to New York with his tail between his legs ?
Will Bittu and Roshan get to be together ?

Oh come on .... I wont tell you everything .. go watch the movie for yourself . But i promise you , its a really nice movie . Definitely worth watching .

Audio / Songs : The songs in this movie are good . I can't call it fantastic .Masakalli is a great track .so is - Rehna Tu . Genda Phool is different .Rest of it - ordinary .

Review Sky - 4 / 5 Nice Film / Movie

Why not 5/5 for this film: Common ! its a really nice movie ....but definitely not 5/5 material . Definitely does not deserve to be on the list of "100 movies to watch before i die " . Mainly a good time pass movie .

ReviewSky : The animation is awesome . That's the only aspect of this movie i could call awesome . The plot is average . Nice concept but not well executed . And comedy - it was lame. Maybe a couple of jokes were good but the rest of the movie was lame . The movie is about this kid who keeps troubling an ant colony , but now he's shrunk and he's one of them . So now , he's got to live and work with them . Bigger problem is - whether they can forgive him for everything he's done .
On a final note , why watch a comedy movie when it isn't funny . There are many great films out there . Don't waste your time watching this .

ReviewSky : 3 / 5 ( Beecause the animation was nice. Actually : 2 /5 )

Why not 5/5 : Like i said , a comedy is supposed to be funny. This isn't.

ReviewSky : One of the best animation movies I've ever seen . Also , overall , one of the funniest movies ever . Didn't get dull even for a moment . I didn't even realize how the movie got over so soon . Now , in monster world , there is an acute shortage of power . So the newest , safest , reliable source of power is - Little kids SCREAMS . So, its the job of these monsters to hide in kids closets, scare them and collect power to run the monster city . Sounds like crap ? But , it isn't and once you watch it you'll know why . Also there's an internal rivalry to be "The Monster with the highest No. of Scares " among the monsters . And a little emotion - our hero gets attached to a kid . And the attention to detail is unbelievable . You dont pay attention for 10 seconds , and I promise you you'll miss a great joke . Even the credits that roll at the end is funny . Never a dull moment .And of course , the animation is awesome. Totally , totally , totally deserves the score I'm giving it !

About the movie / Plot : In the future , when the polar ice caps have melted , the entire land is covered with water . All the continents have been submerged . Now a few humans survive . And everyone dreams of just one thing - to be back on dry land ! The most expensive film ever - when it was made .

ReviewSky : I really loved the concept . With all the environmentalists going on and on about the polar ice caps melting ( I believe it will happen one day but i hope it wont ) this is a totally neat concept . And no wonder this film was so expensive - everything was done really nicely - imagine the entire movie was shown at sea . The plot is good and i really watched it with great interest right till it got over .

Slumdog Millionaire (2008) Review ( Slumdog Crorepati )

Genre : Drama

About the movie / Plot : This movie is based on the book "Q & A" by Q by Vikas Swarup . It shows the harsh life of slum kids in Mumbai , the syndicate that controls the underworld , begging , prostitution , etc . The movie revolves around the lead character Jamal and his brother and their friend . The difuculties they face as slum kids , Hindu Muslim riots , how they are orphaned and how they manage to live their later .The other part of the movie is how Jamal wins a crore on Kaun Banega Crorepati / Who wants to be a millionaire .

Review Sky - I haven't read the book - "Q and A" that this book is actually based on , so i really enjoyed the movie as it is, not comparing it to the book . If you want realism , this film has got just that , but it shows only one side of Mumbai. Fair enough - because its the side that not many know about . Now the way the 2 stories are woven together is fabulous - how he knows the answers to each of the questions he is asked on the show because of his past experiences . the show i'm referring to is Kaun Banega Crorepati / Who wants to be a millionaire . The initial part of the movie is really touching because as kids its really painful to see what they go through . But as they grow older its something thats shown in other movies too . The end of the movie - more like a regular movie . Overall its definitely a great movie to watch and i really enjoyed it .

Review Sky : 4 /5

Imdb : 8.7 / 10 ( 15th Feb 09 , #34 )

Why not 5/5 : Like i said ... Once they grew up , it wasn't so touching . Being from Mumbai , much of it i already knew , so the shock factor wasn't there for me . Towards the end it became a regular hindi film romance .

If you liked this movie , you'll definitely like : Traffic Signal , Monsoon Wedding , Earth etc.
